ABOUT ME

	
I’m a Capricorn and plant mom that finds balance in journaling and meditation.&#38;nbsp; A citizen of the world, it’s hard to pick one place to call home.&#38;nbsp; Born and raised on the west coast, my parents packed up and took us east to Virginia, pulling me closer to the real HU - Howard University, where I attended undergrad.&#38;nbsp; I love to write, and it was at Howard where I began my writing career  as an editor at the Howard University Hilltop newspaper.&#38;nbsp; I’d envisioned my time at Howard a montage of A Different Word and I’d be the next Sidney in Brown Sugar 2.0. I spent the summers interning in New York, landing internships with People Magazine (where I later became a freelance editor) and AMERICA Magazine, founded by Dame Dash.&#38;nbsp; My first gig out of college was a freelancer for InStyle Magazine and I continued to pitch, write, factcheck, and edit for major pubs including Entertainment Weekly, VIBE Magazine, New York Magazine, and Marie Claire.&#38;nbsp; From there, I’d finally locked in a role with Lucky Magazine at Conde Nast. &#38;nbsp;Although I was focused on my budding career, I needed to include my love of music. Sharing music with the world is advantageous for me, it is my euphoria.&#38;nbsp; In college, my gears shifted from entertainment law to print journalism, but the idea of being an entertainment editor still loomed.&#38;nbsp; Post-college, blogging and creating mixes blossomed into light A&#38;amp;R, discovering dope but unknown artists, and showcasing shows at CMJ Music Marathon in New York and SXSW.&#38;nbsp; I had embarked on the elusive balance of the New York grind.


Meanwhile, during a time where publications were switching from print to digital, social media was on the rise and gave way for a new lane and career change.&#38;nbsp; After four years with Lucky Mag, I joined start-up agency, Laundry Service, to take a step back to learn and grow within a new market.&#38;nbsp; Beginning in community and influencer management, I’d gained enough experience to transition to a content director position.&#38;nbsp; I later moved into account strategy, overseeing a team of over 15 for social media strategy, content creation, and paid media execution; working with the creative team for Laura Mercier and Freixenet, along with developing social campaigns for The Oprah Winfrey Network, launching Greenleaf and Queen Sugar.&#38;nbsp; While at LS, I wanted to broaden my scope and focus on holistic marketing, which led me to the creative and experiential agency, MI&#38;amp;C; leading everything from strategy, creative ideation, and producing photoshoots for CoverGirl, H&#38;amp;M, and Bed Bath and Beyond.&#38;nbsp; I was drawn to this work and loved Bed Stuy, but after twelve years in New York, it was time to get back to Cali. &#38;nbsp;In a fortunate stroke of serendipity, a former client and colleague recruited me to Netflix.&#38;nbsp; I’d leant my strategic and creative expertise to Brand &#38;amp; Editorial, then shifted my creative and digital background to the marketing team.&#38;nbsp; In my near three year tenure, I’ve helped develop go-to-market strategies for Bird Box, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before, The Irishman, Da 5 Bloods, and Enola Holmes, while also working on brand campaigns.&#38;nbsp; Back in LA, I’m dabbling in music supervision for short films and content, and the Emmy nominated, A Great Day In Hollywood for Strong Black Lead, has been one of the highlights of my career.   I’m always up for a new challenge and opportunities to expand as a marketer and refine my storytelling abilities through music.

In recreating the legendary A Great Day in Harlem moment, I was a part of the ideation process for the Strong Black Lead photoshoot and brand campaign for 2019 Outstanding Commercial nominee, A Great Day in Hollywood.&#38;nbsp; It was my first experience working on a project of this magnitude with an agency who had Black creative leads and an almost all-Black internal team.&#38;nbsp; From ideation to execution, the passion, camaraderie, and pride was a reflection and true celebration of the power in telling our stories and seeing ourselves reflected on-screen.&#38;nbsp;

Leading the Little Italy Takeover campaign for the Oscar nominated film, The Irishman, was one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments; being involved with a film including so many legends was such an honor.  We transformed the historic New York neighborhood back to 1975, the day after Jimmy Hoffa went missing, giving New Yorkers a taste of Little Italy and submerging the city into a moment that changed history.  The brand campaign earned Ad Age’s Best Brand Activation 2020 Award.

For one night only, we delivered the excitement, heart, and all The Prom ZAZZ for viewers across the globe through a virtual prom event.  Hosted by Queer Eye’s Jonathan Van Ness and headlined by Janelle Monae and DJ Galantis, we provided a moment of relief, laughter, and joy at the end of a year where many moments of celebration were missed.


We invited popular Netflix talent, TikTok Influencers, and YouTube creators to attend a virtual prom, where fans engaged from home, creating their own prom moments, submitting comments, likes, and UGC to show how they celebrated together.  From sharing personal stories, to dancing - it was prom night all over again!

In 2017, agency Droga5 led CoverGirl’s brand relaunch in an effort to transform the cosmetic powerhouse to a more innovative, inclusive, and tech savvy brand. While at MI&#38;amp;C, I helped translate that vision into a social and digital strategy, pioneering new content formats, helping to manage monthly shoots and overhauling e-blasts.
